In the Cambridge PET Speaking test, you need to describe a photograph for about 1 minute. The examiner will give you a photo and ask you to tell them what you can see.
Describe what you see in the photo clearly and in detail
You have about 1 minute to speak
You're marked on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and interactive communication
1. Opening: Say what type of photo it is
2. General Description: Describe the main scene
3. Details: Focus on people, objects, and actions
4. Speculation: Guess about the situation or feelings
Example:
Opening: "This is a photo of a family having a picnic."
General: "The scene is taking place in a park on a sunny day."
Details: "I can see a mother, father, and two children sitting on a blanket..."
Speculation: "They look very happy and relaxed. I think they're enjoying their weekend together."
Use for actions happening now:
"The woman is reading a book"
"The children are playing football"
Use for descriptions:
"The man has dark hair"
"The building looks very old"
Use for speculation:
"They might be tourists"
"It could be a wedding"
Use descriptive words:
"A beautiful sunny day"
"An elderly gentleman"
Don't repeat the same phrases. Use synonyms and different sentence structures to show your English level.

After practicing, check if you included these elements:
Take a moment to look at the photo before you start speaking. Don't rush!
If you run out of things to say, describe colors, weather, or guess about people's ages.
Describe photos you see in magazines, online, or around you every day.
Practice with a timer and record yourself to hear your progress.
Remember: The examiner wants you to succeed! Show your English skills confidently and you'll do great in your PET speaking test!
